Whole grains and foods high in dietary fiber may reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer, according to the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR). According to the AICR, there is substantial evidence linking specific nutrients and their potential to lower cancer risk. Some claim that specific bread products can aid in the battle against cancer due to the role of fiber and whole grains in the new research.
The fact that this research applies to all whole grains, not just whole wheat, should not be overlooked. While whole grains and wheat retain the three parts of a kernel that are responsible for providing nutrients—the bran, the germ, and the endosperm—whole grains also include products besides wheat.
